Projects, Absences, and Leave in the Calendar

Displaying records from other modules; differences between permissions and Dashboard calendars.

Last updated 20 days ago

The Calendar can display more than just Tasks. Projects are shown when the administrator has enabled their display, the appropriate plan is in use, and you have the necessary project permissions. A separate setting determines whether completed projects are displayed.

Absences are shown when their calendar source is enabled and you have permission to view the relevant entries. Clicking a card opens the source record. Leave is linked to specific leave types and falls within the selected date range.

These types are not converted into standard Tasks simply for the sake of being displayed on a single screen. Their editing, status, and associated details remain within their respective modules. The personal calendar is more limited in scope: it focuses on the logged-in user and does not load projects or absences in the standard data view. Consequently, the figures shown in the main Calendar and the personal view may differ.

If a type is missing entirely, contact the administrator regarding organizational settings, the plan, and module access. If the type exists but the count is zero, check the time period and the filter settings.

How to read the overview

Use the item colors as a guide, but make your decision after opening the card. A project's timeframe does not indicate a specific date or stage, and a vacation entry does not represent a scheduling block; the calendar simply displays their timing side-by-side.

When planning for the team, it is best to display vacations and absences first, adding projects and other tasks only when a broader context is needed. If completed projects or tasks clutter the view, an administrator can hide them in the general configuration; this change will apply to all users inheriting these settings.
