What you’ll do
You will create a project and select the client, team, deadlines, progress calculation method, and appropriate billing type.
Before You Begin
You need permission to create or edit projects and access to the selected client. Before creating the project, it is helpful to know the billing type, project team, and planned dates.
Steps
- Open Projects and select New record.
- Enter the name and select Contact, the start date, and the billing type. If necessary, add Contact person, Opportunity, the number, type, status, end date, tags, and description.
- Add participants and their roles. Check the planned hours, project cost, and the Include in project budget selection.
- Select the progress calculation method. Use automatic progress based on Tasks when project Tasks and their statuses are managed sequentially.
- Check the billing type: Fixed Fee, Project Hourly Rate, Tasks Hourly Rate, or Tasks Fixed Rate. 6. Review the default values and enter the Save. The end date cannot be earlier than the start date.
When initiating the project from Opportunities, some fields are populated automatically, and the Opportunities stage may be updated via automation. After saving, open the Project card and verify the client, team, dates, connections, and billing type.
Before saving
Check that the legal client and the appropriate Contact person have been selected, that the project number is unique, and that the team includes at least the team member responsible for the work. Record only the project context in the description; create specific actions as Tasks.
When editing an existing project, treat a status change separately from simple field corrections. If the team, billing, or permissions portal settings are changed, check the corresponding tab and a related record after saving.
