Creating and opening Tasks in Calendar

Opening Task, selecting a new time interval, and filling out the form.

Last updated 13 days ago

What you’ll do

You will create a Task in the Calendar by selecting a time slot, open the resulting card, and check why the entry might not be visible in the selected view.

Before You Begin

Access to the Calendar and Task is required. The Calendar displays only those Tasks and Staff items permitted by your permissions and selected filters.

Steps

  1. In Day, Week, or Schedule view, select an empty time slot by dragging your mouse.
  2. In the Task form that opens, check the pre-filled start and end times.
  3. Enter a title and select the type, related object, and assignees.
  4. Click Save. Merely selecting the time slot does not create the entry.
  5. Check if the card appears on the desired date and in the correct team member row. Click the card to view its details.

The Calendar does not provide additional Tasks permissions. A Task without a start date is not displayed in the Calendar. The card color may depend on an administrator-defined rule; however, it does not alter the status and does not indicate access permissions.

What to check in the form

The interval selected on the calendar determines only the dates. The type (Task) can influence the color and synchronization with an external calendar; the related object determines where the item (Tasks) will be visible; and the "responsible parties" determine whose list and schedule row it will appear in. The visibility setting is not a substitute for the responsible party.

If a different duration is displayed after creation, check the workday limits, time zone, and the values finally saved in the form. If the form does not open when dragging, check your creation permissions or use the standard action in the Tasks module (New record) and enter the start date.
