Build a clear questionnaire, select the right question types, and check the respondent experience before distribution.
Before you begin
Decide which business decision the responses will support. Shorter surveys usually receive more complete responses, so keep only questions that serve that objective.
Create a survey
- 1. Go to System Settings → Surveys → Survey settings.
- 2. Click New survey.
- 3. Enter a clear survey name.
- 4. Prepare the welcome title and message. Explain the purpose, expected completion time, and how responses will be used.
- 5. Prepare the closing title and thank-you message.
- 6. Click Add question and choose a question type.
- 7. Mark the answer as required when appropriate and add guidance before or after the question.
- 8. Click Save and preview.
Choose a question type
- Short text for a brief single-line answer.
- Paragraph for comments or detailed explanations.
- Single choice when only one option can apply.
- Multiple choice or Checkboxes when several options can apply. Checkboxes can also enforce a minimum, maximum, or exact selection count.
- Rating scale for satisfaction or quality scores.
- NPS (0–10) for recommendation likelihood and Net Promoter Score reporting.
- Date for a date or date and time.
- Time for a specific time or duration.
Text questions can enforce length and validate numbers, email addresses, URLs, or text conditions. Write validation messages that tell respondents exactly how to correct the answer.
