Currency exchange rate in financial documents
When creating a financial document that supports multiple currencies, select the appropriate code in the Currency field. Upon selecting a currency other than the base currency, Hanna displays the Exchange rate date, the calculated rate, and the amount converted into the base currency.
Select the appropriate exchange rate date for the document transaction. The rate is retrieved from the bank specified in the currency settings, or from the default source if no bank is selected. The Show exchange rate in PDF field determines whether the rate will be displayed in the generated document.
Verify the currency code, exchange rate date, rate, and converted amount before saving. If the rate appears unexpected, do not save the final document until you have checked the selected date and the currency bank settings.
If the document date or currency is changed, the exchange rate must be verified again. A previously generated PDF does not update automatically.
Currency formatting, reports, and PDF
Manage currency codes and symbols under Finance → Currencies, and configure amount formatting under Settings → Finance → General settings. Here, you can select the number format, the number of decimal places for prices and quantities, and the placement of the currency symbol (before or after the amount). These display settings do not alter the currency itself or its exchange rate. For example, moving the euro symbol before the amount does not change the document's currency from EUR.
In reports, distinguish between the original document amount and the amount in the base currency. If a single result set includes documents in multiple currencies, do not compare their amounts directly without first verifying how template performs the conversion.
After changing the currency symbol or formatting, check the new document preview and the PDF. Previously generated files retain the values that were in effect at the time of their creation.
